Sustainable food production as a contribution to healthcare and as a protection measure for man-made landscapes

  • Our project "Wine-growing areas as theme parks to experience nature" not only laid the foundation for nature trails and their integration into concepts for tourism, but we are also committed to preserve and re-establish a typical, albeit often considered to be a mediterranean, fauna and flora in the vineyards (organization of workshops and seminars, organization of planting events, publication of a handbook for wine growers) [mehr]
  • Outlining concepts for traveling exhibitions and teaching materials on soil and water protection.

Campaign "Living vineyard"

The promotion of biodiversity especially in viniculture is the aim of the comprehensive campaign "Living vineyard". The campaign targets at turning vineyards into landscapes of nature experience. In former times, many plants like for example German Iris, Chamomile and Pokeberry were rampant; today, most of them are endangered. Hence, NatureLife-International is committed to building new habitats within vineyards.

Associate partners are the associations of titled vineyards from Baden and Württemberg, the LVWO Weinsberg, the WBI Freiburg, the Association of viniculture Württemberg and Baden as well as cooperatives and private vineyards.

Mr. Gert Aldinger from Fellbach, president of the Verband der Prädikatsweingüter (VDP) has currently had an inventive idea. He created a special label for the dry Riesling edition of his more than 500 years old vineyard showing a partridge and a note "living vineyard”. Parts of the proceeds of the dry Riesling will benefit applied measures of environmental education and nature conservation.
